Mild swelling
Ankles and feet often swell later in pregnancy, especially in heat. Rest with legs elevated; comfortable shoes help.
Eating and drinking
- Normal salt in home cooking is usually fine unless your clinician restricts sodium.
- Stay hydrated — dehydration does not prevent swelling.
- Potassium-rich foods (banana, beans) as part of balanced diet.
Danger signs (possible preeclampsia)
Sudden facial swelling, severe headache, vision changes, upper abdominal pain, or rapid weight gain — go to emergency care.
