Common signs

Tiredness, pale skin, breathlessness, dizziness — but labs are required to diagnose.

Diagnosis

Hemoglobin and ferritin (or full panel) at prenatal visits. Treat cause: iron deficiency, B12, folate, or other.

Nutritional support

Red meat, eggs, beans, greens + vitamin C; continue prescribed iron; avoid tea right after iron-rich meals.

Notes

Too much iron is harmful — follow prescribed dose. Severe symptoms or chest pain need urgent evaluation.
