Kicks vs hiccups
Kicks are rolls and jabs. Fetal hiccups often feel rhythmic, light, and brief—common in the 2nd–3rd trimester.
Usually normal
More activity after meals or evenings is common.
Seek care if
- Clear decrease in movement compared with your baby's pattern (especially ≥28 weeks).
- No movement after guided counting per hospital advice.
- Pain, bleeding, or fluid leak.
Tip
Side-lying, hydration, and movement counts per clinician protocol—does not replace antenatal visits.
