Symptoms
Sudden tight pain in the calf or foot, often at night in the second or third trimester.
What may help
- Gentle calf stretches before bed.
- Stay hydrated; balanced electrolytes from food.
- Foods with magnesium: pumpkin seeds, spinach, bananas, whole grains (as part of normal diet).
- Comfortable shoes; avoid standing too long.
Notes
Persistent swelling with headache or vision changes is not a simple cramp — seek urgent care for possible preeclampsia screening.
